MASSAGE WILL RELIEVE DISCOMFORT FROM FIBROMYALGIA
The term fibromyalgia means fibrous tissue (fibro) pain (algia). The primary symptoms of fibromyalgia (FMS) include widespread musculoskeletal pain, severe and chronic fatigue, achiness all over and disturbed sleep.
Therapeutic massage therapy relieves pain by increasing the production of pain blockers, including endorphins, serotonin, and norepinephrine. These hormones work to suppress pain signals conducted by the brain. This would explain why massage therapy is known as one of the most effective forms of pain relief for FMS sufferers.
